Web Design Much of my recent work has involved creating and maintaining websites. My clients for these sites include Mac's Distributing, All Year Heating & Air, AnimeStyle Pro, Nelson Fine Arts, Absolut Electric, Galan French Farmhouse, Jon Sealy Construction, FalkenArt and many others. In addition, I've taken over website management and updating for a number of other clients, including All Terrain, ClearView, Jimmy T's BBQ, TCBRN and more.
3D Modeling 3D was what attracted me to computer graphics in the first place, and I focused on 3D Modeling when I decided to enter the field professionally in 1990. Since then, I've created models for Compaq and Intel presentations, assets for the Civilization II: Evolution, Zork: Nemesis, Blade Runner, Hot Shots Golf 2, and Matchbox Hero City games, the MPlayer Gizmo, and architectural interiors of the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District building.
Directing While at Mondo Media, I art directed a number of game cinematics, including Mechwarrior 3, Under Cover, and Alpha Centauri: Alien Crossfire, as well as created and art directing in-game assets for both Star Fleet Command releases. I also art directed Spiral, a Flash-based Mondo Mini Show with character designs by Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop, Gundam, Golden Boy). More recently, I've art directed game assets for the Disney Princess and Pixie Hollow websites.
Writing Over the years, I've written or helped translate over forty books. My personal works include The Official Guide to the Daedalus Encounter, 3D Graphics & Animation: from Starting Up to Standing Out and 3D Graphics & Animation: Second Edition. The bulk of my other books have been English adaptations of Japanese manga, including Hayate the Combat Butler, Train_Man and Shakugan no Shana. I also worked on the adaptations of light novels and an anime DVD series.

Binary Arts Site Refresh Continues

Things are starting to come together!

Most of the major website designs I've worked on are now up on the site. I've recently completed a couple jobs setting up Wordpress blogs for small businesses and "mommy bloggers", so I may add some of those to the portfolio as well.

The next thing on the list is to expand the Tips and Info section to provide more background information about the different approaches to getting yourself online, from free and simple one-page sites to blogs to full-bore websites. As the Yellow Pages fade into obscurity, there are many small and home-office businesses that are going to need to establish or expand their online presence. In some cases, clients have had some kind of a website (often of the do-it-yourself variety), but they look outdated and were not serving their current needs.

For larger projects, I generally use the the foundation because it's a robust and well-supported open-source solution with lots of third-party add-ons and templates. My most recently completed project was a site for a renovated farmhouse in the South of France called Galan that is being offered as a vacation rental or as the site for workshops and retreats. The client is ReInvent Yourself - France. Look for another new site to launch in a week or so.

Recent Work

steampunk-dublin-01d-425

For quite awhile, I've been doing mostly art direction, and lately I've been itching to get back into 3D again. Recently, someone sent me a link to a very nice 3D model called Dublin, and I decided to buy it along with a few steampunk models from other artists on Renderosity and play around with them in Poser 9. This was my first attempt, and although it's not really finished, I like the results and plan to continue building up my skills again.
